At Nomad Letterpress we print by letterpress from metal type, the process invented by Johann Gutenberg in Germany in 1450. We believe Gutenberg’s technology will never be equalled for the purity of its typefaces, its crispness of impression, and for that elusive third dimension entirely lacking from computer-derived printing. The extreme disciplines of letterpress printing are nicely counterbalanced by the enormous creative possibilities that it offers.

We offer a full range of letterpress printing services to our clients, for projects ranging from limited edition books to custom business cards and invitations. Nomad Letterpress specialise in composing and printing complex forms made up of metal and wood type, printing wood engravings and linocuts & printing from magnesium plates. Although we specialise in book printing we also print all kinds of ephemera, from posters & portfolios to beermats and birth announcements.

We are publishers as well as printers and are always on the look out for talented artists and engravers. We have a wide subscription list and exhibit at book fairs frequently both in the UK and overseas.
